Premium Light Management and Protection
Each of our lenses are precision tinted to filter problematic light from screens, fluorescent and LED lights, flashing lights, disorienting patterns, unwanted blue light, bright sunlight, and more. They were developed based on our review of decades of published, peer-reviewed research on light and the filtering of certain wavelengths.
We have multiple FL-41 lens and lens strength options, including our polarized FL-Sun, as well as lenses that target other parts of the spectrum—making TheraSpecs the most comprehensive offering of light-filtering glasses on the market. Below is a list of our lens options:
FL-Pro™: offers the strongest FL-41 protection for artificial lights and digital device screens | three lens strengths available
FL-Blend™: balances FL-41 protection against screen and other artificial light with more natural color perception | two lens strengths available
Z-Blue™: filters the most problematic wavelengths from flashing and/or repeating lights and patterns | three lens strengths available
Flex: takes the edge off of the bright light with a barely-visible tint
Sleep: removes 100% of blue light and may help promote healthy sleep when worn before bedtime
Contrast HEV™: may bring greater visual contrast and comfort for screens and bright light
FL-Sun™: enhanced outdoor protection—the best sunglasses lens you've ever tried | polarized | two lens strengths available
All lenses are available with non-prescription, prescription, or reader correction.

The Importance of Light Management
Chronic headache and migraine disorders are all too common among members of the military. Studies have suggested that veterans who served a year or more in Iraq were perhaps as much as 3 times more likely to be diagnosed with migraine or post-concussion headache or exhibit comparable symptoms. In addition, first-time diagnoses of traumatic brain injuries (including concussions) in active duty military members increased each year from 2000-2012.
It's not just the head pain that affects daily functioning. In fact, sensitivity to light is the most common visual symptom reported after brain injuries caused by blasts—and 77% of soldiers returning from Iraq or Afghanistan with blast-related TBI experienced this sensory disruption. This means exposure to certain light, from fluorescents, LEDs, and/or computer and device screens, can aggravate head pain and trigger symptoms of these disorders. This is why managing the problematic wavelengths for members and veterans of our military is critical for their everyday functioning.
We contributed our expertise to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs blog, covering how impactful migraine, headaches and light sensitivity is for veterans and members of the military. Read more below.
