Exhibiting at the American Headache Society's Scientific Meeting
TheraSpecs exhibited at the American Headache Society's 58th Annual Scientific Conference in San Diego last week. The vibe at the conference was distinctly upbeat and optimistic this year. Health care providers are excited about the CGRP-targeting drugs in the pipeline and how much relief they could provide patients. Although much of the talk has been about these drugs for migraine, they are also being studied for cluster headache.
At the booth, familiar faces we've met at previous conferences stopped by to tell us how TheraSpecs are working out for their patients. Hearing their stories is so gratifying.
One doctor told us that a patient had emailed her a picture of himself wearing TheraSpecs just that week. She hadn’t seen him in a while, so he was checking in to let her know how well TheraSpecs were working for him.
Another doctor told us that he uses TheraSpecs during his exams. Part of the exam requires shining a bright light in patients’ eyes to check their pupil response. Immediately after that unpleasant experience, he has his patients put on TheraSpecs to help them recover from their photophobia. He said he usually sees an improvement in 15 minutes.
Finally, the story that really got us was of a schoolteacher who thought she was going to have to quit working because of the migraines she got at work every day. It turns out that her attacks were being triggered by the classroom's fluorescent lights, and her TheraSpecs allowed her to go back to work migraine-free.
We also talked to a lot of residents and fellows who are relatively new to headache medicine. They always ask tons of questions, excited to learn about all the options available to help their patients.
One of the sessions at the conference focused on photophobia. With that information in hand, attendees were happy to learn of a product they could use to ease the discomfort of photophobia and reduce light-triggered migraines and headaches.
Connecting with doctors, nurses, and physician assistants we’ve met in the past and meeting new ones is energizing. We leave every conference excited about the future possibilities for TheraSpecs and how we can reach more patients.
