Choosing Your Best TheraSpecs Style (Part 3): Frame Comfort

Written by Greg Bullock on 3rd Jan 2017

We know how important it is to have your eyewear fit properly and comfortably on your face without aggravating your condition. In the third installment of our blog series, we take a look at the most common questions surrounding the fit and feel of TheraSpecs frames.

How much do TheraSpecs weigh?

We designed each of our frames to be as lightweight as possible to minimize pressure on the head and face, which could otherwise wreak havoc during or after an attack. However, there are minor weight differences depending on the specific frame style as well as the type of lens. See the table below for a comparison of frame weights.

Style Weight, Frame and Lenses (g)
Haven Pilot Classic Wrap Petite Wrap
Indoor 20.9g 25.9g 25.3g 26.5g 22.5g
Outdoor 17.9g 24.4g 24.3g 25.6g 21.4g

Stella Audrey Original WearOver Tatum WearOver Osborn
Indoor 30.2g 26.4g 39.2g 28.3g 20.4g
Outdoor 29g 25.7g 37.4g 27.2g 19.6g

  Winslow Conrad Powell Quinn Betty
Indoor 29.9g 32.6g 23.1g 24.8g 16.3g
Outdoor 26.3g 31.7g 22.3g 24.1g 15.6g

  Fremont Mercer Vista Keaton Hudson
Indoor 18.1g 18.4g 29.8g 26.5g 22.5g
Outdoor 17.4g 17.5g 28.6g 23g 18.5g

  Lane

Outdoor 23mm

Like any pair of eyeglasses, raw weight does not tell the whole story. How they fit on your face and how the weight is distributed can make a big difference in the overall comfort of a frame. And don’t let the relative lightweight nature of our eyewear fool you: TheraSpecs unique blend of materials give them impressive durability, meaning they will hold up with repetitive use.

Other sizing considerations

Additional sizing questions often center around the particular shape of a face and how TheraSpecs would fit. Whether you have a narrow or wide face, it is important to remember that all TheraSpecs styles are adjustable. A few minor adjustments with the help of a professional can make a tremendous difference in the fit and feel of our glasses. Below are a few additional measurements for comparison, including total frame width and bridge width, to help inform these considerations.

Lastly, we have two different styles of bridge options. Seven frames, Osborn, Fremont, Pilot, Hudson, Haven, Winslow and Conrad, have soft, silicone nose pads while the remaining styles have a saddle bridge and rest comfortably on the top portion of the nose.

In our next blog in the series, we’ll be exploring the fashion characteristics and questions of our frames!
